I noticed a pattern in the nature of God recently.
I noticed that He likes to bring good out of bad, He likes to bring light out of darkness. He doesn’t abandon the darkness to create light elsewhere. We see this in the beginning of the creation story; in Scriptures, we are not told that He the earth was null and void and so God created a new planet and made everything good from scratch. Instead we see Him turn the dark and empty situation to the lively and wonder-filled planet we see till this day.
I see the same pattern in the story of Noah. Humanity was degenerating so fast that God regretted that He made man; (‘The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” ‘Genesis 6:6-7).
You’d think He would not spare anyone just to eradicate the corruption in the world once and for all. But He kept Noah. Why did He keep Noah? It’s almost as if when He creates a system, He is committed to seeing it all the way through no matter what happens along the way.
Sin entered into the world, He did not erase everything to start over again. He did not create a new set of humans. He made one man and made the woman out of him, and ever since then He hasn’t made another Adam (Mankind).
When the second Adam – Jesus Christ was to come into the world, He made it happen through an offspring of the first Adam. This is one of the most fascinating thing about the hypostatic union.1 God did not make another woman from scratch for the purpose of birthing Jesus. His Spirit collaborated with the pre-existing system He had in procreation and out came the Word (Jesus) in the flesh.
So yeah I’ve just been mulling over these things and thought to put them on here. If anything, I think it’s a great encouragement to know that He is committed to bringing good out of evil. As people that put their trust in God, we are never at a disadvantage no matter what we are going through in life. Jesus has told us that in this world we would experience tribulations, but we can be joyous in every situation because we know that we belong to the One who’s got the whole world in His hands and who reigns victorious forever.
Whether in this life or in the one to come, our lot is victory!
